Without these, the textile industry would not have been able to flourish. You’ll find extensive experience here, and excellent embedded systems, infrastructure and cloud services, mobile technology, logistics and transport.
From mail order to e-commerce
Nowadays 4,500 businesses operate in advanced e-commerce in Region Borås. Many of them work with digital commerce solutions. Amongst other things the largest concentration of textile businesses in northern Europe is found here – a total of 54% of all textiles that arrive in the Nordic regions pass through Region Borås. Ehandel.se’s e-commerce index 2016 awarded Borås the title of the best e-commerce area in Sweden. The index compares turnover and earnings, the number of employees and the number of e-commerce stores compared to the size of the population in Sweden’s 40 biggest local authorities.

Tomorrow’s expertise is already here
The University of Borås has already started e-commerce studies at Masters level, focusing on digital commerce development, and also has a professor in the department whose field of research is in that area. SIIR (Swedish Institute for Innovative Retailing) offers research resources and a unique research environment in the form of Handelslabbet (The Commerce Lab) to trading companies and the surrounding community to help promote innovative and sustainable commerce.

You’ve probably heard of some of the ICT companies in Region Borås. Leading brands like Ellos, Blåkläder, Speed Group, Hultafors, Fagerhult and Flügger are known to many. But there are also large companies here that deliver products and services to the whole world, such as Nexans, Centiro, Engtex, Finepart and Nyce Logic.
