RISE

RISE (Research Institutes of Sweden) is an independent, state owned research institute which offers unique expertise and around 100 test and demonstration facilities for trials of future safe technologies, products and services. A total of 2,300 co-workers run and support all types of innovation processes.

Awitar, alongside the AstaZero test facility and our forthcoming testbed for electromobility, means that RISE is well equipped to have a strong innovations partnership with the Swedish automotive industry in the future as well.

Awitar

Ever more complex vehicles with radar, cameras and sensors are using our roads. Interference testing vehicle electronics is increasingly important, and is a prerequisite for the future transition to self driving cars, which need to communicate wirelessly with each other.

AWITAR (Automotive Wireless Test and Research Facility) is RISE’s new world leading wireless communication systems and EMC test and development centre, for autonomous vehicles and active safety systems for example.

The facility has been developed in close collaboration with RISE and the Swedish automotive industry.  Awitar’s great adaptability is one of its strong points, with the capacity to test ordinary cars as well as vehicles up to 70 tonnes.

Hällered

At Volvo’s facility in Hällered there are 15 different test tracks in total, where everything that a Volvo car can come up against is tested, including off road conditions and driving on other roads with varying types of demanding surfaces. 75 well trained and experienced test drivers work at the facility, alongside personnel in workshops and garages.

Astazero

The world’s first full scale test environment for the development of future traffic safety can be found just outside Borås. Astazero is an open, international platform for all parties concerned, such as vehicle manufacturers, subcontractors, authorities, road agencies, universities, higher education institutes and technical colleges. Unique environments have been created at the facility for testing every conceivable scenario in research, development and certification of future traffic safety systems.

Test Center Autoliv

A highly qualified accredited laboratory within the Autoliv group, with many years experience of providing world class testing services, in particular to the automotive industry. Simulation, construction and testing are performed here to assist product and component evaluation. The centre also develops cost effective test methods and constructs and manufactures test equipment and fixtures. In addition the workshop can handle the production of prototypes in small quantities.
