Herrljunga
Herrljunga has winding country roads in beautiful natural surroundings, as well as a transport hub with the Västra Stambanan and the Älvsborgsbanan railway lines, bringing both Stockholm and Gothenburg closer.
In Herrljunga you’ll find security, closeness and beautiful scenery. It’s good to live here!
The county houses many successful companies and Herrljunga has been placed highly for several years now on the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise’s business climate ranking, most recently 27th out of Sweden’s 290 counties. A drive to improve fibre connectivity in rural areas is ongoing, which makes it possible to run businesses in remoter areas as well.
Rural village schools, with small classes, provide children with a calm and idyllic environment to learn in. Altorps School, with around 300 pupils, is Herrljunga’s secondary school for 13 to 16 year olds, and Kunskapskällan is the small sixth form college providing great prospects. It is classed very highly in the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions league tables.
Herrljunga Station has become something of a transport hub. Two major railway lines meet here, the Älvsborgsbanan and the Västra Stambanan. The fast train will get you to Stockholm in around two and a half hours and to Gothenburg in around 50 minutes. The lovely old Station House, built in the 1860s, has been completely renovated and now houses shops, restaurants and several businesses.
Scenery is varied here, and there are walking trails, picturesque villages, swimming areas, fishing lakes and rivers, like the Nossan which runs through the county. There are many clubs and associations to join, and Herrljunga’s Local History Society was chosen as Sweden’s Local History Society of the year in 2018.
