A manufacturing area

Vårgårda is a manufacturing area, known for its good business climate, and has been placed highly for many years in the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise’s ranking of Sweden’s best business climate.  Large industries like Autoliv, Gustavsberg, Sundolitt and Lantmännen Doggy, amongst others, are found here. These companies work together in the local business network Center of Innovation.

Leisure time

Vårgårda has a rich community life that is active in driving social progress in the county. Take Destination Vårgårda, for instance, a not for profit organisation where clubs, businesses and the local authority work together to develop tourism in the county. There are football stadiums, indoor football halls, sport centres, ice rinks, tennis courts and golf clubs here, and handball, football, ice hockey, floorball, cycling and orienteering clubs.

Tånga Heds Camping, with a hostel, and event venue is Vårgårda’s most visited attraction, where many different kinds of events are held each year. Everything from dog shows to concerts and trade fairs. Tångahallen is also located here, an indoor sports hall with a seven-a-side pitch covered in AstroTurf.

There’s one secondary school for 13-16 year olds and one sixth form college in the county. In the main town there are three primary and intermediate schools, and in the wider county there are four more schools. On top of that there are several nursery schools, and a new state of the art primary and intermediate school is being built in the centre of Vårgårda.
